Anthony fought in the American Revolution. The Indiana Society Sons of the American Revolution application dated August 1921 by Herbert Worth Fillmore provides information about Anthony's service. The application states that Herbert Worth Fillmore is the son of Fred A Fillmore, grandson of William Roper Moore, great-grandson of Solomon Moore, great-great-grandson of Anthony Moore, and great-great-great grandson of John Moore. The application states that Anthony was born near Frederickstown Md. on the 14h day of April in 1759.

The application also states "At the breaking out of the American War Anthony Moore enlisted for three years (3 years) and he had part in the battle of White Plains in the state of New York. After his discharge from the army, he married and settled near Winchester, VA in the year 1778. He was drafted to go to Yorktown to the siege of Cornwallis. He died near Middletown on February 24, 1808 and was buried in the Methodist graveyard Stephensburg." Click here to see a scanned copy of the S.A.R. Application filed by Herbert W. Fillmore.

When Anthony died, he left behind a wife, Margaret, who was raising several minor children, as well as several grandchildren. His estate included animals (horses, cattle, sheep and pigs), slaves (Dolly, Clowey, and Easler), a silver watch valued at $20, an eight-day clock valued at $50, a lease for ground, and winter grain.

The settlement of the estate of Anthony was contested by Joseph Kenney on behalf of his sons (Albert and John), beginning on December 12, 1819 against the administrators of the estate Margaret Smith (the former wife of Anthony), Eleazer Barrow, and John Adams. Joseph's wife, Francis "Fanny", a daughter of Anthony had died prior to the death of Anthony. Fanny was one of Anthony's 10 children, so Joseph Kenney felt that his son's were entitled to Fanny's 1/10 share of the estate. The court battle went on for 15 years. By that time, Albert and John Kenney were adults and represented themselves in court. There was no indication that Albert or John every received anything from the settlement that was finally decided on January 9, 1834.
