(Maria Elizabetha Weidman) (Elizabetha Weidman) (#80) (Maude Householder Baker (a distant relative of webmaster Susan Snyder (#2)) says John married Maria E. (According to Pennsylvania, Church Records-Adams, Berks, and Lancaster Counties, 1729-1881, the minister was Reverend Casper Stoever and the ceremony took place in a Dutch Reformed Church at Conewago, Adams, Pennsylvania ). "The marriage of Johan Adam Householder and Maria Elizabetha Weidman was one of the first marriages listed in the church book of the Warwick Congregation. Rev. Stoever began the Warwick church book in 1743 which was the same year that the Warwick Congregation was likely established." (Source: The Householder Genealogy: Householder, Housholder, Haushalter,Volumes 1-2, Jane Farrell Burgess, 1987., p. 22.)

Miscellaneous:

As stated above, the U.S. and Canada, Passenger and Immigration Lists Index, 1500s - 1900s lists Johannes Adam Haushalter as arriving in America in 1739 at the age of 20. The reference for this is BREITBARD, GAIL. Some Wills of Washington Co., MS. in The Lost Palatine, no 22 (1985) , p 3. "Johan Adam Householder was the only person with that surname reported on that voyage of the Friendship to Philadelphia. However, his brother, Johan George Householder, may have accompanied Johan Adam Householder on the voyage. As well, Margaretha Householder and Elizabetha Householder may have also been on this 1739 voyage of the Friendship. Since the ship list only contained males..." (Source: The Householder Genealogy: Householder, Housholder, Haushalter, Volumes 1-2, Jane Farrell Burgess, 1987., p. 21.) [Note: If Elizabetha (Johan's future wife) was on the ship, her last name was not Householder since she did not marry Johan until 1743, 4 years after the ship's arrival.]

Johan Adam Housholter is listed as living in Philadelphia Township in Philadelphia County, Pennsylvania in 1739. Database: PA Early Census Index. [Note: 4 years later, he would marry Elizabeth on 17 October 1743 in Warwick, Lancaster County, Pennsylvania].

Several of Johan Adam Householder and Elizabeth's children's baptismal records are in records at the Warwick church, but Johan's "will indicated that he had two other children besides the ones with baptismal records at the Warwick..." (Source: The Householder Genealogy: Householder, Housholder, Haushalter, Volumes 1-2, Jane Farrell Burgess, 1987., p. 24.)

[Note: This webmaster has not seen all records from Warwick church, but found baptismal records show the names and dates of his first four children baptized at that church].

John Householder is listed as living in Elizabeth Hundred Township in Frederick County, Maryland in 1776. Database: MD Early Census Index.[Note: This could be John Ad. Householder (age 57) or his son (age 32).]

John Householder is listed in the 1790 United States Federal Census as living in Washington, Maryland. In the household were 2 free white males under 16, 2 free white males 16 and over, 5 free white females, and 9 total household members. [Note: This could be John Ad. Householder #79's son. His son (born in 1744) would have been 46, and the children are likely his. John Ad. Householder #79 would have been 71 at the time of this census and it is unlikely there would be this many household members at home unless an adult child and grandchildren were living with him. or he was living with his son, John, and his family. ] [ Note: John Ad. Householder #79 died the year after this census and his will was probated in Washington Co., Hagertown, MD.]

John and Elizabeth had 10 children: John Adam Householder, Andrew Adam Householder, Maria Barbara Householder, Mathias Householder, Elizabeth Householder, Christian Householder, Eve Householder, Catharina Householder, Maria Margaret Householder (#40), and Anna Maria Householder. (Source of turquoise information: Johan Adam Householder(#79)'s Will and transcription and additions by Gary Housholder)]

In his will, John bequeaths equal shares of his "worldly estate" to his 10 children. His executors are his son- in- law Peter Bussard (#39) (husband of Maria Margaret Householder (#40) and Jonathan Moyer (relationship unknown).

[Note: In a future search at the Ohio State Library, look up the Householders and the Axlines in the Jayne Farrell Burgess Genealogy on Householders for more information.]
