Document for Daniel Donnell (#105)'s Second Marriage

 

Below is documentation of Daniel Donnell (#105)'s second marriage. This document was filed on October 16, 1816 and declared Daniel's intentions of marrying Cathrine Gorrell. The bondsman was Robert Donnell and the Witness was J Hanner, Clerk of County Court. [Note: Daniel was 61 years old at the time of his marriage to Cathrine. His first wife, Mary Ervin (#106), had died on May 21, 1814. Cathrine died just seven years after this marriage (October 7, 1823), leaving Daniel a widower for a second time.]

STATE OF NORTH CAROLINA
Guilford COUNTY,

IS BORN all Men by these Presents, That we Daniel Donnell
and Robert Donnell
are held and firmly bound unto William Miller -- Esquire,
Governor, &cc. or his Successors in Office, in the full sum of Five Hundred Pounds, current Money,
to be paid to the said Governor, his Successors or Assigns, for the which Payment well and truly to
be made and done, we bind ourselves, our Heirs, Executors and Administrators, jointly and severally,
firmly by these presents, sealed with our Seals, and dated this 16th day of October
Anno Domini 1816

THE Condition of the above Obligation is such, that whereas the above bounden Daniel
Donnell hath made application for a license for Marriage to be celebrated
between him and Cathrine Gorrell of the County aforesaid: Now in
Case it shall not appear hereafter, that there is any lawful Cause or Impediment to obstruct the said
Marriage, then the above obligation to be void; otherwise to remain in full Force and Virtue.
