The map below is dated 1827 and was drawn by Anthony Finley. The original copy of this map was engraved by Young and Delleker for the 1827 edition of Anthony Finley's General Atlas.
The map shows the counties of Ohio as they existed when Albert first arrived in Ohio. He and his wife Susannah (#20) were married in 1827 in Maryland and moved to Ohio the next year. At the time of their arrival, Ohio was heavily forested and farming was difficult. But, Albert was a farmer. He and Susannah lived in hilly Tuscarawas County for five years and then went to the flatter Delaware County. Albert and Susannah and their children were one of the first families to settle in Porter Township in Delaware County.
