George Glass (#51)'s Estate Papers

 

George Glass died ~ February 15, 1836 as proven by the cover letter to his estate papers shown below. A transcript of same follows this letter.

Below is the State of North Carolina document that explains the obligations that Daniel Graves, William Goble & ____ Goble have in handling George's Estate. Below this document is a transcript of same.

 

STATE OF NORTH-CAROLINA
Guilford county.

KNOW all men by these presents, That we Daniel Graves
William Coble & ____ Goble
are held and firmly bound unto the State of North Carolina in the sum of Five Thousand
Dollars: current money, to be paid to the said State of North Carolina; for
which payment well and truly to be made, we bind ourselves, our heirs, executers or administrators
jointly and severally, firmly by these presents. Sealed with our seals, and dated this 15th
day of February Anno Domini 1836-

THE CONDITION of this obligation is such, That if the above bounden

administrator of all and singular the goods and chattles, rights and credits of George Glass
deceased do make or cause to be made, a true and perfect inventory of all
and singular the goods and chattles, rights, and credits of the deceased, which bare or shall come to the
hands, knowledge, or possession of the said Danl Graves-
or into the hands or possession of any person or persons for him
and the same so made, do exhibit or cause to be exhibited into the County of Guilford, within ninety days from the date of these presents; And the same goods, chattles and credit; and all either the
goods, chattles and credits of the deceased, at the time of his death, or which at any time hereafter shall
come into the bands or possession of the said Danl Graves
or into the hands or possession of any person for
him do well and truly administer according to law; and further do make, or cause to be made,
a true and just account of his said administration, agreeably to law, and after the date of these pres-
ents: and all the rest and residue of the said goods, chattles and credits, which shall be found remaining
upon the said administrators account, (the same being allowed by the County Court) shall deliver
and pay unto such person or persons, respectively, as the same shall become due, pursuant to the true
intent and meaning of the General Assembly in that case made and provided. And if it shall appear
that any will or testament was made by the deceased, and the executers therein named do exhibit the
same to court, making request to have it alowed and approved accordingly, if the said
Danl Graves - above beusden being thereunto
required, do render and deliver the said letters of administration, (approbation of such testament be-
ing made in said Court) then this obligation to be void, otherwise to remain in full force and virtue:
